On occasion, I come across online tools that are crazy-helpful, well designed, and free for most users. One of these services I have found is workflowy.

I don’t use it every day, but it’s great for mind mapping, outlining, brainstorming – anything requiring either a list or a list within a list. I keep coming back to it because it solves a few specific problems really well:

  • clean interface (helps solve the focus problem)
  • minimal options (it gives me enough tools, but not unnecessary ones)
  • it’s fast
  • the drop menus are great for seeing the bigger picture
  • zooming to specific entries (great for narrowing on specific topics)

What are your favorite tools?
